review security systems

When we’re in the bedroom between the white noise machine in the central air system we would never be able to hear anything happening on the first/ground floor. We’re looking for an economical, DIY security system with a loud alarm/siren to alert us when were sleeping And to alert us if there is an intruder when we’re not home. We’d love your input/ recommendations!Would also love your thoughts/advice on self monitoring vs using a security company to monitor. Many thanks!KelliHi Kelli, You’re very welcome and thanks for reading! There are a bunch of different companies that have sirens I recommend SimpliSafe. However, if you self monitor with SimpliSafe, you won’t be able to control your system remotely, livestream footage, or receive notifications. 24/7 professional monitoring would be better for a family where all adults work full time and wouldn’t have time to contact emergency services if an alarm goes off.

wireless alarm system for home

In these cases, you may want to hire a professional with experience on prior camera installs. Finally, there are some circumstances where you can’t install your own cameras. Many leading providers of monitored home security systems such as ADT and Vivint require professional installation to make sure everything is in working order. In these cases, a trained technician visits your house to relieve you of this responsibility altogether. If you’re dedicated to doing it yourself and you want a professionally monitored security system, you do have plenty of DIY options: SimpliSafe, Frontpoint and Protect America are all strong choices. To learn more, check out our picks for the best outdoor security cameras or explore our comprehensive comparison guide on the leading home security systems. To start with, Frontpoint is the only home security system that is 100% wireless and 100% cellular. Why is this important? In a traditional, landline home security system, burglars can disable the system simply by snipping phone lines or cutting cable wires, which renders the home security system powerless. Instead, wireless cellular systems are a safer and more reliable alternative. With Frontpoint, you'renot required to have a landline phone, an internet connection, or any phone at all. The alarms from the Frontpoint control panel reach their monitoring center over a secure cellular network.
